Jason Kelly graduated from Temple University in Exercise Science. He has been an exercise physiologist and massage therapist for over 20 years. He has worked with:
diabetes and cardiovascular disease programing;
the geriatric, general and athletic populations designing prevention and strength programs;
corporations teaching their employees how to stay healthy, breathe, move, exercise well and use better ergonomics in the workplace.
As a fitness director he taught, strength, power and health comes from within; how you function to move, not just move. With this philosophy, he overhauled the entire program in the fitness facility with his functional mindset and approach that had instant success and results. He has taught workshops to physical therapists, athletic trainers, massage therapists and to the general population. From working with a diversity of populations, he saw that prevention is rarely taught and misconceptions are widely accepted and used leading to high statistics of pain, injury, disease and disorder. Incorporating his years of skill and experience, he developed the Breathe, Stabilize, Move-Function First Method to combat and resolve pain, injury, disease and disorders like musculoskeletal ones for people to move well, freely and frequently for longevity. It does not matter who you are, young, old, athlete or not, you need to be functional first to have the shield of prevention and the balanced foundation to nurture movement and foster strength to cultivate growth. He developed this site and wrote his book to inspire, create awareness and produce mindfulness for all people; the young, corporate, middle aged, aging and athletic populations. Disease, disorder, injury and pain statistics are very high today. All these issues interfere with our goals for movement, health, fitness, strength and wellness, that render them ineffective. We don't have to surrender our youth, health and vitality to affliction and disease. At 44 years old, Jason has better flexibility, strength and moves better now than when he was 25. Jason says, "I am progressing my wellness as I get older, not descending into immobility as the media and information seems to tell us about these effects to aging. I just need more sleep, LOL." We don’t lose the ability to breathe or move, we lose the ability to breathe and move well. A malfunctioning body through time, is not productive; it will break down, produce pain, wear and tear. Misalignment is the square peg trying to move into a round hole by force. When the systems function with strain and misalignment at rest, movement increases the strain, so therefore, exercise becomes counterproductive. The best thing is, all of this can be reversed, like it never happened, resetting and reconfiguring the functional mechanical system, automatically producing less strain. We have the choice and ability to transform before it’s too late. Like cardiovascular disease, you create it and have the power to change it by reversing it before it becomes irreversible. And like movement, we are not breathing or aligned well enough for it to be effective to produce benefit. We lose mindfulness. Losing mindfulness leads to inefficiency. There is no pill, tool or device that can do this for you, only the power of being mindful and the guidance of the book, The Balanced Body.
Function produces movement. Movement produces strength, health, vitality and youth.
